After a successful introduction of sport watches, the market leader in mobile navigation is now introducing the TomTom Bandit, a revolutionary action camera. The company is diversifying towards innovative consumer products using smart technology. We developed the packaging for this exciting newcomer in the TomTom family.
The TomTom Bandid is the first ever action camera with a build-in media server, eliminating the need to download before being able to edit. The new camera communicates with a smart phone app. Bandit marks the highest peaks, the fastest speed and the biggest acceleration as interesting video moments, making it easy to share those heroic moments with others in real-time. Film, connect with your smart phone and just shake to edit and immediately share the moment with your friends, all in a split second.
We developed a suitable packaging for this dynamic newcomer. Inside the ‘EYE’ of the pack, the camera is the hero! From all sides the design and functionality can be admired. We put the camera on a slanted curved surface to emphasize its action-prone character but also to show how it rotates around the horizontal axle and how it can be mounted onto everything else. When opening the box, it will charm customers with a pleasant unpack experience and only a small amount of waste. Next to our work for Philips, KPN and Lego this is a great example of how structural packaging can add to the value of a brand.
For years TomTom have been market leader in mobile navigation systems. In 2013 they diversified their range of consumer products by launching the GPS sport watches to help runners, cyclists and swimmers in reaching their fitness goals. After these successful introductions, it is up to the action camera Bandit to conquer the world. We love to see the cameras in action this summer, high in the mountains, on surfboards and bicycle helmets… good luck Bandit!
