Based on our strategy’s three cornerstones – Integrated Packaging Design, Smart Connected Products and Design Thinking – and, zooming in on our future, we searched for new talent to join our team. We are delighted to introduce Michiel, who was added to our FLEX team lately.

What can you tell us about your background?
After graduating from the Design Academy in Eindhoven, I started working as an independent designer. I worked for numerous consumer-driven brands, advising and developing new product strategies. My product strategies are based on extensive market research and evaluation of consumer needs. These insights help me to focus on new product opportunities and ensure a profound product-market combination. Throughout the design process, I combine a hands-on mentality with an open-minded approach, and continuously evaluate the outcome on both commercial and technical feasibility.

Why did you pick this field as a career?
What’s better than bringing together thoughts, new functional solutions, and beautiful materials and thus bringing ideas to live! After so many years as a designer I still get a kick out of managing the design process and seeing things slowly forming the desired outcome: a beautiful, feasible and functional product with above all added value.

Why did you choose FLEX?
FLEX creates product designs that add value. Next, to optimizing shape and functions, FLEX creates products that tell a story, fully coinciding with one of my main personal drivers for becoming a product designer.

What can we expect from you?
A passionate, proactive, versatile and to point professional, with a creative, out-of-the-box, way of thinking, and a strong focus on the market and its developments. Moreover, I’m a sociable colleague with a strong team spirit!

What’s the primary value you would like to bring our clients?
My goal is to be as a partner to our clients. A partner that embarks on a design journey with them, combined with a hands-on, can-do- mentality, open to dialogue and focused on reaching the desired outcome together.

What’s your focus in life and what do you like to do outside of work?
Enjoying the diversity of life. From being a father with three beautiful kids,  to a dedicated photographer, partner, friend, cook and much more (to come)….
