During the Marketing and Design Congress today Marjolein Boer (Marketer at Bolton Adhesives) tells the success story of the Bison Airmax.

Bison is one of the Bolton brands and offers a solution for moisture issues in spaces. The original moisture absorber is sold for over 25 years as a product that takes the moisture out of the air. The challenge is: how can the playing field be increased and how can the product suit spaces like living rooms and kitchens as opposed to just garages or basements?

In a pitch a number of design agencies were asked to develop a solution beyond the traditional interpretations of the product. Very few innovative solutions were offered and also the cost price remained high. Therefore Bolton continued its search among agencies it had not worked with before. The desired creative solution came from us, who created a lamp-like product. The entire development process took one year and became a success.

Why is the new moisture absorber such a success? According to Boer it is a combination of an upgrade in functionality as well as an upgrade in aesthetics. She clarifies how – also for such a down to earth household object – design can boost the product.
